Brief Summary In the calls this week (14-20 May 2026) to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform, listeners continued to report rainfall in various parts of the country and to describe improvements to livelihood conditions. The calls about rainfall came mainly from central regions, notably Galgadud and Hiran, as well as southern regions notably Middle Shabelle and Gedo. There were just a few calls about rain from northern areas. Several callers from northern, central and some southern parts spoke about continuing impact of drought or a return to dry conditions after sporadic rain. A number of callers talked about livestock and crop losses, difficulty in recovering, unemployment and food insecurity. Livestock herders spoke about goat and camel diseases affecting their herds. There were several complaints about aid delivery. The following summarises the calls by theme. Floods – a caller in Qalimow, Middle Shabelle region, said farms had been inundated by floods and farmers’ crops lay underwater. He said the people affected were appealing for aid. Food insecurity – a caller in Aw-dhegle, Lower Shabelle, said they had rainfall and people were recovering from the drought, although they didn’t have the resources to cultivate their farmland or money to buy seeds. He wanted his message to be shared. A female caller in Lasanod, Sool region, said they were doing well with the rainfall, but were concerned about the poor state of the economy. She said people were poor and needed jobs. In Baidoa, Bay region, another female caller said they had lost their livestock to drought and were facing food shortage.
