DENR trains ‘Bantay Dagat’ to boost Zambales marine sanctuary defense

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — To strengthen the protection of Central Luzon’s lone marine sanctuary, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in partnership with the local government of Masinloc, has completed a specialized training program for 96 Bantay Dagat (sea patrol) members. The paralegal training, which concluded last week, was designed to enhance the community volunteers’ knowledge of environmental laws, proper enforcement procedures, and their critical role in safeguarding the Masinloc and Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape (MOBPLS).
