This report is produced by OCHA Office of the Pacific Islands in collaboration with humanitarian partners under the Pacific Humanitarian Team (PHT). It covers the period from 08 -16 May 2026. HIGHLIGHTS Humanitarian partners continue to scale-up the response, with a shift from immediate relief to stabilization and early recovery, while significant gaps remain across sectors Displacement remains significant, with affected populations still residing in evacuation centres, host communities, and informal settlements. Shelter identified as top priority, alongside construction materials and technical support to rebuild. Health services are still constrained, with 41 facilities partially functional and around 180 expectant mothers requiring urgent access to safe delivery services. Widespread damage to WASH systems is increasing risks of waterborne disease and delaying reopening of schools and health facilities Education disruption is significant, affecting over 11,000 children across 84 schools, while protection risks, including GBV and psychosocial distress, are rising.
