New AHL team in Hamilton, Ont., will be called the Hammers

Hamilton's incoming American Hockey League (AHL) team will be called the Hammers. The name and the team's logo were announced Thursday at TD Coliseum, where they'll begin playing in October. In March, the AHL's board of governors approved the Bridgeport Islanders' relocation from Connecticut to the Ontario city.
