Pagasa: Heat index peaks at 47ºC in Catarman, Northern Samar on May 20

MANILA, Philippines — Heat indices across the country peaked at 47ºC on Wednesday, May 20, specifically in Catarman, Northern Samar, as dozens of other areas reach “danger” level indices, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. Once the heat index ranges between 42°C and 51°C, Pagasa tags it as “danger” level due to increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could then lead to heat stroke.
