Senior citizen lining up for cheap rice hit by vehicle dies

MANILA, Philippines — A senior citizen died after he was struck by a pick-up truck while he was lining up to buy subsidized rice in Quezon City on Wednesday, the police said. The victim was lining up in front of the Bureau of Animal Industry office along Visayas Avenue in Barangay Vasra at around 4 a.m., the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said in a statement. “A 46-year-old male was driving a Nissan Navara pick-up along Visayas Avenue, coming from Elliptical Road and heading toward Congressional Avenue,” the police said.
