Comelec issues warning vs premature campaigning for barangay, SK polls
MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Wednesday warned that barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election candidates engaged in premature campaigning will face appropriate sanctions. Garcia explained that as the barangay and SK elections will be done manually, those who will file their certificate of candidacy from September 28 to October 5 will be considered as candidates even before the start of the campaign period on October 22, 2026.
