Farmers, fisherfolk seek DAR reversal of Sicogon land conversion orders

MANILA, Philippines — Farmers and fisherfolk groups from Sicogon Island in Carles, Iloilo, have asked the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to partially revoke land conversion orders covering a 334-hectare tourism estate. They alleged that developers failed to fulfill relocation, livelihood, and agricultural commitments promised under agreements tied to the island’s development project.
