Sandiganbayan OKs Revilla request to skip case trial until July

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Third Division has approved the request of former Senator Bong Revilla to skip his trial on malversation case until July. “His waiver is approved, unless [his appearance is] required by the court,” third division’s clerk of court Dennis Pulma told Inquirer in a text message on Wednesday. Revilla’s lawyer Ready Anthony Balisi said the waiver of appearance covers the period when the prosecution presents their witnesses and evidence.  “That’s his right,” Balisi told reporters when asked for the former senator’s reason.
