Filipino VR film ‘Yellowfin’ joins Cannes 2026 immersive competition

All Filipino-led virtual reality film “Yellowfin” recently made waves at the 79th Cannes Film Festival after premiering in the festival’s Immersive Competition in France. “Yellowfin,” written and directed by E del Mundo, was among only nine projects selected for the competition, making it the first Southeast Asian project and only all Filipino cast and crew to compete in the category. The 12-minute and 35-second immersive drama combines documentary realism, folklore, and environmental themes through 360-degree virtual reality (VR) cinema.
