Mandaue City to restore five-day workweek

MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Mandaue City will lift its four-day work week and return to a standard five-day schedule for local government employees. Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano said he has requested a data-driven assessment from the City Administrator’s Office to evaluate the efficiency of the current compressed work week. The mayor said that if the financial savings from the four-day arrangement are not substantial enough to outweigh the benefits of a traditional schedule, the city will revert to a five-day work week.
