Insecurity Insight’s Protection in Danger open-source monitoring identified 8,527 incidents of threats and violence that took place at IDP/refugee camps, including temporary/makeshift shelters between 01 January 2020 and March 2026. In these incidents, camps were damaged or destroyed 5,120 times, 6,320 camp residents were killed, 13,153 injured, 473 kidnapped and 5,144 arrested. Almost 55% of incidents reported Israeli aircraft and drone strikes, artillery shelling and sniper attacks on refugee and makeshift camps in Gaza between October 2023 and March 2026.
