Hyundai Motor Group unveils plan to deploy 25,000 Atlas humanoid robots

Hyundai Motor Group has outlined plans to deploy 25,000 Atlas humanoid robots developed by its subsidiary Boston Dynamics and manufacture core robot components at factories in the United States, according to investor relations materials released Tuesday. The plan was presented during an investor relations session hosted by global investment bank JPMorgan Chase, where Hyundai Motor Group said it aims to achieve annual production capacity of 30,000 Atlas robots by 2028. The group said it plans to deploy more than 25,000 Atlas robots across Hyundai Motor and Kia manufacturing facilities, though it did not provide a detailed rollout schedule or identify specific plants. Hyundai Motor Group said it also aims to produce more than 300,000 actuator units annually at U.S. facilities. Actuators are key robot components that function as joints and muscles.
