UNHCR Sudan: Flash Update #8 – Darfur and Kordofan Situation Update (March – April 2026)
Country: Sudan Source: UN High Commissioner for Refugees Please refer to the attached file. Situation Overview Security conditions in the Kordofan and Darfur states are highly volatile, with persistent hostilities, aerial strikes, and criminal incidents resulting in civilian casualties, further displacement, and challenges in sustaining humanitarian aid delivery. On 24 April, a UNHCR truck transporting emergency shelter kits to Tawila, North Darfur State was struck in a drone attack, resulting in the complete destruction of the assistance intended for over 1,300 forcibly displaced families. The driver escaped unharmed. Such incidents undermine humanitarian response, restrict access to vulnerable communities, and delay the delivery of life-saving support. The cross-border access through Adré border crossing point with Chad has been extended until 30 June 2026, supporting the continued delivery of humanitarian assistance into the Darfur regions.
