Lebanon: Middle East Escalation, LTC Situation Report (Telecoms) #06 - Reporting period: 01 - 15 May 2026
Country: Lebanon Sources: Emergency Telecommunications Cluster, Logistics Cluster, World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. This situation report provides updates on the Middle East escalation, with focus on Lebanon’s security situation. It outlines the telecoms area activities of the Logistics & Telecommunications Cluster (LTC) in support of the humanitarian response. The Cluster was formally activated on 16 March 2026 and is led by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Summary Points • Lebanon’s telecommunications network remains operational but fragile, with reduced coverage in the south due to damaged sites and limited access for repairs. Ongoing displacement is increasing congestion in host areas, degrading service quality and placing pressure on mobile data and local networks. • UN agencies have been informed of Starlink availability through Alfa, with pre-orders now open. Activation is limited to kits procured through the Government-authorized reseller. • The LTC has launched two data visualization layers on LogIE: one mapping telecom services (coordination, information management, assessments), and another, developed with ITU, providing near real-time connectivity data for Beirut and southern Lebanon.
