With his film ‘Hydra,’ director Dustin Celestino still believes in hope

“Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan” was the fruit of filmmaker Dustin Celestino’s crushing disappointment with the results of the 2022 elections. At the time, he was rattled when his chosen candidate didn’t win, which allowed him to process his despair through film.  The Mylene Dizon, Jojit Lorenzo, Dolly de Leon, and Zanjoe Marudo-led film, which premiered at the 2025 Cinemalaya festival, is set to have a nationwide screening on June 3.  With this in mind, Celestino hopes the screening will remind viewers to hold on to hope—even if many struggle to define it. “Gusto kong mapanood ito ng mga […]...
