Country: Yemen Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Please refer to the attached files. HIGHLIGHTS Precipitation: April 2026 brought intensified rainfall across Yemen’s Northern Highlands, with the highest totals recorded in the southern districts of Hajjah Governorate. Rainfall anomalies: Rainfall was significantly above average — especially in western areas—compared with both the long-term mean and April 2025, making April 2026 the wettest April nationwide in the past five years. Temperature: April 2026 was hotter, marking the shift to warmer conditions. Temperatures reached 30–35°C in eastern and coastal areas, increasing heat-related risks. Vegetation: Cultivated areas generally showed favorable vegetation and crop conditions; nearly 90% recorded fair-to-good vegetation performance, the best April result in the past five years. Crop season: Favorable rainfall during land preparation and early-season crop growth meant ASIS detected no severe crop water stress in April 2026. Livelihoods and food security: Above-average rainfall had mixed impacts—supporting crops, rangelands, and some livelihoods, but also driving flooding, displacement, infrastructure damage, livestock health risks, and heightened food insecurity in an already fragile context.
