Expect more brownouts in Visayas during El Niño, officials caution
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Despite an improvement in the overall grid outlook, residents and businesses in the Visayas may face more frequent brownouts during El Niño, industry officials warned. The Department of Energy (DOE) on Monday, May 18, said that the region could still face yellow and red alerts in the coming weeks. These yellow alerts, DOE added, may still lead to localized power interruptions or manual load dropping if supply conditions worsen unexpectedly.
