Humanitarian Feedback Bulletin: Accountability to Affected Populations - Aweil, South Sudan I April 2026 / Issue #1

· Relief Web

Country: South Sudan Sources: Concern Worldwide, World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. In April 2026, Wedweil continued hosting refugees, returnees and host communities amid ongoing displacement from Sudan, seasonal rains, and strained basic services. Security was generally stable, though localized tensions arose over water, night-time insecurity, and delayed aid. In this context, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) activities remained a key channel for two-way communication, with 372 feedback pieces (191 female, 181 male) collected in Wedweil. The feedback provided a clear snapshot of priority needs and perceptions across the settlement and surrounding communities. The feedback largely centred on delays in cash assistance, rising market prices, inadequate water points, poor sanitation at the transit centre, shortages of medicines, and insecurity at night. Communities also provided substantial positive feedback, appreciating WFP’s transition to cash assistance, improved organization of distributions, installation of streetlights, construction of public toilets and bathrooms, access to water infrastructure, and the role of radio and loudspeaker messaging in improving information flow and dignity during assistance. Humanitarian actors addressed most issues through coordination and targeted actions, showing how community feedback is shaping programming and strengthening trust in Wedweil.
