Humanitarian Feedback Bulletin: Accountability to Affected Populations - Malakal, South Sudan I April 2026 / Issue #1
Country: South Sudan Sources: Concern Worldwide, World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. In April 2026, the humanitarian situation in Malakal remained fragile, shaped by continued population movements linked to the Sudan crisis, rising food insecurity, flooding risks, emerging public health threats including suspected cholera, and persistent protection concerns. During the month, 402 community feedback entries were collected by CEN in Malakal (259 from women and 143 from men) across the Transit Centre, Way Station, State Garden, Daniel Comboni, PoC, and Malakal town. Feedback was primarily concentrated on food security and cash assistance, followed by health, WASH, protection, shelter, and onward transportation, reflecting the most urgent community priorities. Positive feedback highlighted appreciation for cash assistance, high-energy biscuits, transport support, and improved communication by WFP through radio announcements and the toll-free hotline (2200). However, negative feedback focused on the insufficiency of cash transfers amid rising market prices, prolonged waiting periods at the Transit Centre, limited availability of health services and medicines, sanitation gaps, and safety concerns. Most feedback cases were successfully reviewed, referred, and closed through coordination with humanitarian partners in Malakal.
