CEBU CITY, Philippines — Street performers in Cebu City may soon be given designated areas to perform as the city government explores a program that would let them earn without violating anti-mendicancy rules. Mayor Nestor Archival said the proposal came after recent controversies involving the detention of street buskers in the city. Archival said the city government is considering public spaces, including Plaza Independencia, where buskers could perform for residents and tourists.
