CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Senate opened its session on Monday, May 18, ahead of proceedings expected to convene the chamber as an impeachment court for the articles of impeachment filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, with Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa notably absent during the roll call. During the session, 23 senators were present while Dela Rosa was the lone absentee as the chamber took up organizational matters and the referral of House Resolution No. 989, which contains the articles of impeachment against Duterte.
