Rights group protests at Senate over 'Bato escape,’ leadership change

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA), staged a protest outside the Senate on Monday, denouncing what they called a deepening pattern of impunity after the reported “escape” of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Senate leadership change. Dela Rosa reportedly left the Senate before dawn on Thursday, after taking refuge there following a failed attempt by National Bureau of Investigation agents earlier in the week to arrest him under an International Criminal Court warrant for crimes against humanity.
