LOOK: 69 Chinese face probe after raid in Misamis Oriental steel plant

TAGOLOAN, Misamis Oriental — Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said on Saturday that 69 Chinese and one Filipino are undergoing inquest proceedings following a raid on a steel manufacturing facility in Misamis Oriental. The individuals are being probed for alleged violation of immigration laws, labor standards and environmental laws. Authorities are also looking into possible violations of safety rules in a workplace. Teodoro said the foreign workers include both documented and undocumented Chinese.
