Legarda's portrait removed from Assumption Wall of Empowered Women

MANILA, Philippines — Assumption College has taken down the portrait of Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda from its “Wall of Empowered Women” following a statement from the student council saying the alumna “no longer reflects the values that Assumption upholds.” Assumption’s student leaders on Friday released an official statement supporting calls for the removal of the senator’s portrait, saying that the recognition within the institution “must reflect not only achievement, but also character, responsibility and moral courage.” Photos circulating online showed Legarda’s portrait no longer displayed on the university’s honor wall. “The Assumption Student Council stands firm in its […]...
