HEAT INDEX WATCH: 44 areas across PH to hit ‘danger’ levels on Saturday

MANILA, Philippines – Forty-four areas across the country are forecast to experience “danger” levels of heat index on Saturday, the state weather bureau said. In its 5 p.m. bulletin on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said eight areas are expected to record the highest heat index at 44°C. Under Pagasa’s classification, the “danger” level ranges from 42°C to 51°C. Heat index refers to the apparent temperature, or how hot it feels to the human body when humidity is factored in.
