Country: Canada Source: European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations A wildfire has been affecting central-western Alberta province in western Canada since 14 May, prompting evacuations and causing damage. According to local authorities, the wildfire has so far burnt an area of approximately 1 028 ha. An evacuation order is in place for part of Clearwater County in the central Alberta region. Two major highways have been closed, with traffic is forbidden across them, and residents in the area are preparing to evacuate. Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfires Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is expected to range from moderate to very high across most of the central-western Alberta province.
