Country: Democratic Republic of the Congo Source: Integrated Food Security Phase Classification Please refer to the attached Infographic. Relentless conflict and massive population displacement across DRC continue to leave 26.5 million people facing high levels of acute food insecurity and in dire need of humanitarian support. This includes more than 3.6 million people in IPC Phase 4 (Emergency) and 22.9 million people in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis) between January and June 2026. In this IPC projection update analysis of the four eastern provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri and Tanganyika, it was found that more than 9.9 million people will continue to experience high levels of acute food insecurity in this period. Although this represents a slight improvement of 1.8 percent compared with the September 2025 projection for the same period, the situation still reflects a deterioration from the current analysis, underscoring the persistent severity of food insecurity in the eastern part of the country. Humanitarian food security assistance (HFSA) is not reaching nearly enough people in these four provinces, with millions of vulnerable households without the support they need to stabilise their food consumption and rebuild their livelihoods.
