The opening of Jisr Qamar border crossing on 4 May 2026 has marked the fourth official Point of Entry (PoE) along the Syrian–Lebanese border where DTM tracks population movements into Syria. As of 11 May, a total of 312,996 movements had been recorded, the vast majority involving Syrian nationals (96%), with Lebanese nationals accounting for the remaining 4 per cent. Notably, Syria is increasingly being utilised as a regional transit route, serving as a passage for onward movement. A further 1,963 Lebanese nationals were reported to have transited onward through Syria to Jordan. Between 2 March and 11 May, DTM recorded 115,850 individuals arriving across 1,229 locations spanning all 14 governorates in Syria. Arrivals were predominantly Syrian, with Lebanese nationals accounting for less than 1 per cent of those recorded. For the second consecutive round, the decline in new individuals at arrival locations has continued, from 153,087 in Round 8. This decline can be attributed to the increased number of individuals returning to Lebanon, following the relative stabilisation of the security situation alongside the lack of livelihood opportunities in Syria.
