HIGHLIGHTS 603 738 litres of water distributed to 1,442 displaced people in Saint-Marc, Ti Citron and Morne Calvaire. 2 436 households assisted with cash support 1 881 hygiene kits delivered to IDPs in Saint-Michel de l’Attalaye and Gonaïves 2 567 children screened for acute malnutrition SITUATION OVERVIEW The Artibonite Department is facing a particularly concerning situation, marked by a surge in armed violence that has led to new population displacements. As of 6 April, approximately 13 573 people (3 342 households) had been forced to flee their homes following attacks reported at the end of March, particularly in Jean Denis, Pont Benoît (Petite Rivière) and Dessalines, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) . The majority of displaced people (82 per cent) are hosted by host families, while 18 per cent reside in displacement sites. At least 16 sites have been identified, including 11 newly established sites, reflecting increasing pressure on host communities and heightened vulnerability among displaced populations outside formal sites. Additional movements have continued to be reported. In the commune of L’Estère, approximately 2 581 people (576 households) were displaced as of 21 April 2026 (ETT 90.1) . Most displaced households (88 per cent) are hosted by families, while 12 per cent are living across seven sites, including two pre-existing sites and five newly established ones following recent incidents.
