MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Thursday reminded tourists to respect locals and observe proper conduct when visiting Philippine destinations. The statement comes following reports of an assault by a group of foreign tourists on the owners of a local café in Siargao on May 11. The DOT did not make a specific mention of the incident but reminded local and foreign tourists alike to not ask for any special treatment when it comes to the law.
