DA reaffirms imports as 'last resort measure'
MANILA. Philippines – The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Thursday reaffirmed that imports should be considered as a last-resort measure, not a standing policy, to manage prices and supply in the country. “We will not normalize imports. Importation is not our first resort—it is our last line of defense,” Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said in a statement.
