Nigerian Red Cross society calls for unity, humanity, and support for vulnerable communities in Nigeria

Delivering his message to commemorate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2026, themed “United in Humanity,” the President emphasized that humanity must remain the guiding principle in responding to increasing hardship, both globally and within Nigeria. “This is not merely a slogan, it is a principle that must guide our conduct, especially in times such as this,” he stated. The President noted that millions of Nigerians continue to face challenges including displacement, disasters, and economic hardship, stressing that collective action is required to ensure that no one is left behind. Referencing the founder of the Red Cross Movement, Henry Dunant, he reiterated the enduring principle of humanity: “We are all brothers.” He commended the dedication of Nigerian Red Cross volunteers who serve in difficult and hard-to-reach areas across the country, describing them as the backbone of the Society’s humanitarian efforts. “They do not discriminate. They do not delay. They act, because humanity demands it,” he said.
