Alexandra “Alex” Eala needed just 59 minutes to win her first singles match on grass this year, defeating the Australian player Priscilla Hon in straight sets in the Lexus Birmingham Open. By beating Hon, 6-0, 6-2, Eala advanced to the round of 16. She will face the winner between Belgium’s Greet Minnen, the tournament’s defending champion, and Alina Charaeva of Russia.
