Groups cite alleged violations in push vs. Smokey Mountain WTE

MANILA, Philippines — Environmental groups, community leaders and anti-poverty advocates opposed to a proposed P26.648-billion waste-to-energy facility at Smokey Mountain renewed calls to halt the project, citing alleged environmental violations involving a company linked to the development and warning it could deepen poverty and heighten health and displacement risks in nearby communities.
