The Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA) initial road construction of the Yalu road began as a pilot tract project in 2020 and is now undergoing widening and graveling, respectively, connecting the Mai Rural LLG into the Laiap Rural LLG in Wabag District, with the Aiyel Valley and Tsak Valley in Wapenamanda District being connected simultaneously, linking dozens of rural villages for the first time since time immemorial. Wabag Open MP Dr Lino Tom confirmed that the Yalu road project was undertaken to connect the isolated Upper Aiyel Valley area in the Laiap LLG of the Wabag District bordering Wapenamanda District to Lenki and Irelya government station located along the main Highlands Highway near Wabag Town.
