Unwelcome news caps the week

In news we didn’t want to hear – on Wednesday, energy regulator Ofgem announced a 13 per cent increase in the energy price cap for the period covering1 July to 30 September 2026. Typical annual energy bills are now set to rise by £221 to £1,862 from the start of July.
