False killer whale still alive after 20 hours stranded off Calapan

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines — A marine mammal found stranded along the shoreline of Barangay Navotas in this city remained alive more than 20 hours after it was first discovered, as authorities and marine experts continued efforts to monitor and care for the animal. In an update released on Thursday, May 28, local officials said the marine mammal has now been identified by experts as a false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens).
