This report presents the findings of Round 1 of a displacement assessment conducted in the Great South of Madagascar between September and October 2025, with publication in April 2026. The assessment covers 123 fokontany across four communes in the districts of Ambovombe Androy and Ampanihy West. The exercise identifies population movements linked primarily to recurrent drought and climate‑related shocks, documenting both arrivals and departures of internally displaced households during 2024 and 2025. In total, the assessment estimates 9,795 displaced individuals, with significant variations across communes. Beyond displacement figures, the report provides a multi‑sectoral overview of humanitarian needs, including food security, water, sanitation and hygiene, health, shelter, education, livelihoods, protection, and access to services. Findings highlight widespread vulnerabilities, particularly related to food insecurity, limited access to safe water, and insufficient health and education services. The results aim to support evidence‑based humanitarian planning and response, inform prioritization of interventions, and strengthen understanding of displacement dynamics in the Great South of Madagascar.
