ICC’s Korner to judges, counsels: No Duterte case talks outside court

MANILA, Philippines — International Criminal Court (ICC) Trial Chamber III Judge Joanna Korner on Wednesday said discussions between judges and counsels in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s case would remain strictly within court proceedings. Korner gave the assurance during the status conference on Duterte’s trial after disclosing, for transparency, that she has personally known ICC prosecutor and senior trial lawyer Julian Nicholls, as well as Duterte lead counsel Peter Haynes, for over 20 years.
