Decomposing body of a 19-year-old woman who was reported missing found in Alcoy, Cebu

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A decomposing body was discovered in a grassy area in Sitio Cangcaya, Barangay Poblacion in Alcoy, Cebu, early on Wednesday morning, May 27. Authorities initially had difficulty identifying the victim due to the advanced state of decomposition. Later in the day, police confirmed that the body belonged to Jean Oropesa Belardo, 19, who had been reported missing for three days. Police Major Jose Nilo Abello, chief of the Alcoy Municipal Police Station, said authorities now have custody of a 42-year-old suspect identified only as “Anton” in connection with Belardo’s death.
