CitizenWatch urges DILG to streamline telco permit rules

MANILA, Philippines — Streamlining electronics permit processes will help accelerate telecommunications infrastructure rollout, especially in poor communities where connectivity remains a major concern, a consumer advocacy group said. Because of this, CitizenWatch Philippines urged the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to streamline electronics permit requirements for telecommunications infrastructure. The appeal comes as the government reviews the decades-old National Building Code following an order by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon.
